Veteran Comedian Gary Lising found dead by son in condo Philippine veteran comedian Gary Lising, was found dead in his condo unit yesterday, May 31, by his only son, Bugsy. He is 78 years old. Gary's brother Pompeii Lising, confirmed it through a Facebook post. I am sad to inform some terrible news. We lost our beloved Gary Lising, my eldest brother, today. Gary, thank you for all the laughs and love, we will miss you deeply. But I know that your jokes will make God laugh. Rest In Peace my dear brother. Lising said he suffered a heart attack in 2009 and underwent angioplasty more than once in 2012.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte Approves “Magna Carta of the Poor” Republic Act 11291  known as the Magna Carta of the Poor, was signed on April 12, 2019, and ordered departments and agencies of the government to give "full access" to government services to the poor. The new law seeks to ensure that poor Filipinos will have access to adequate food, especially in times of calamities or natural disasters. It also mandates the government to provide programs for the poor to promote their food self-sufficiency. Under the new law, the poor shall be classified as persons whose income falls below the poverty threshold as defined by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), and those who cannot afford their minimum basic needs of food, health, education, and housing.
