Lifetime Cellphone Number Act, Passed on Bicam

Image
The bicameral conference committee is able to end the lifetime cellphone number act or allow anyone to use their cellphone number for a lifetime. According to Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, the proposal is no need to change your cellphone number even if you switch service providers or transfer the telecommunications company. Gatchalian is hoping that the move will be more effective for the competition between telcos in order to maintain their subscribers. Gatchalian believes that the proposal will also help the third telco easily get subcribers. According to Gatchalian, there is a six-month national telecommunications commission or NTC to formulate implementing rules and regulations. Once enacted, Telco will not be liable for a penalty of up to 40 million pesos or a refund on their franchise.
