Filipino Sign Language Act, signed by PRRD

President Rodrigo Duterte has signed the law declaring the Filipino sign language as a national sign language to the Filipino deaf and as the official sign language of the government.
Republic Act no. 11106, or the Filipino Sign Language Act, on October 30.
Its enactment will be subject to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (PWD).
It aims to promote, protect and ensure full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms of the disabled.
Under the law, recognizing the Filipino sign language as the medium of official communication for the hearing impaired.
