Angara, hoping the 3rd telco will speed up the implementation of free WiFi on SUCs

Senator Sonny Angara hopes that the third telecommunications company will help the country to accelerate the implementation of the free WiFi law in public places, especially at State Colleges and Universities or SUCs.
Angara said this, after the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) declared the provisional third telco provider the Mislatel consortium of China Telecom and Udena Corporation.
Where Angara is, the free WiFi can greatly help students to save money on computer shops for their research, assignments and school projects.
Angara was upset because of the delay in implementation of the free WiFi access program funded by P1.7 billion this year.
In the budget hearing on the Senate, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) said only 10 percent of the funds were used, with just 15 of 112 SUCs nationwide with free WiFi.
